This is the first time the iPhone Dev Team has talked about the Spirit iPhone jailbreak (yup, that’s one and the same as the Spirit iPad jailbreak we saw demoed on video) on their blog.
While they don’t have anything negative to say about it, they do however strongly recommend interested users to back up their SHSH blobs now so that they won’t loss the ability to use this iPhone jailbreak in case they accidentally upgrade to a new firmware. You can use either Firmware Umbrella or suarik’s server to do back up your SHSH blobs. They also remind users that this is a jailbreak and not an unlock. For your iPhone unlock needs, there’s blacksn0w and ultrasn0w you can use.
On the good side though, they confirm that the Spirit iPhone jailbreak indeed works on all devices (iPhone 3G S, iPod Touch 3G, and iPad) and it’s completely untethered.
There’s still no date though on when it will become available as comex, the creator of Spirit, has posted over at Twitter that he has decided to postponed its release from its original ETA which should have been tomorrow. So alas, the waiting game continues.

I don’t think there’s a jailbreak for 3gs 3.1.3!!! I don’t get why they just don’t release it because it looks like 4.0 will have all the features that we wanted and couldn’t have, so jailbreak was the way forward! No point jailbreaking 4.0 unless you want free paid for apps! ie theft
Yes I can wait any longer I’m diiiiieeeeiiiinggg haha but seriously these guys have done a great job the world is looking forward to, so I can’t complain. : )
