For those doubting the ability of the web-based untethered iPhone jailbreak by comex dubbed as Spirit to work on the newly released Apple iPad, doubt no more.

iPhone Dev Team member musclenerd has actually tried it out confirming its authenticity, and the video above shows off how they’ve already gained root access to the iPad. It’s still in the early stages though, and as muscelnerd points out, there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done for iPhone 3.2 compatibility. As such is the case, there’s no release info yet available for this iPad jailbreak though speculation is it could happen either after the iPad 3G model is outed or when iPhone OS 4.0 for the iPhone is finally rolled-out. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed and hope that it’s more of the former rather than the latter.
